I love the Blogs!

I really liked being able to make these blogs.  It allows me to write certain aspects that I consider important and share them with my other classmates.  I can also remember certain personal moments.  In addition, writing in English helps me to generate a better understanding of the language and put it into practice in the future.

For example, writing about our pets, dreams or important aspects of our academic and university education, is a very good way of communicating, so we have the opportunity to express our opinions and feelings about the topics that I wrote previously.

Also, in this way I can remember how much I liked to write blogs.  When I was in school, I loved to write on my blog, like a diary of life, and coming back to that reminds me my school days.

With respect to the topics which I would like to write about, I think it might be interesting to add more personal opinions on deeper issues or current contingency.  Criticism about politic, social problems, religion, news, or opinions about public events that concern us as students and as Chileans. I think it would also be very useful to be able to talk more about aspects directly related to our appreciation of art in Chile and the world.

Música de Cámara!!

Since this year I have had the privilege of study a subject that I had personally been waiting for years and that is tremendously useful for my musical formation: Música de Cámara. This subject consists on forming an instrumental group, in my case vocal and instrumental, and performing some repertoire of our choice and with the teacher’s approval.

I have always dreamed of doing a musical piece for baritone soloist and baroque chamber group, the cantata 82 de J.S.  Bach. This year I gathered a group of instrumentalists who trusted in my work and decided to help me to do this musical piece .

We find an amazing teacher, the director Miguel Angel Castro, who was very motivated to do this work with us and has been a tremendous and wise guide for my group and especially for me, since he is a teacher with a lot of knowledge of the Baroque and especially of Bach's piece.

Bach's music is a real challenge, because it requires a lot of rehearsal, a lot of personal and group study, a correct guide and a very good assembly. Also, in Chile, there are not many expert teachers in baroque and less in Bach.  For these reasons I feel very fortunate to do this musical piece and be constantly congratulated by the teacher to be doing a good job. I think that  I'm understanding this piece of music and I feel it internalized in my vocal technique and my interpretation.!

Lana del Rey

Today I want to talk about my favorite music artist (outside of opera or classical music of course). Lana del Rey.

I had a hard time finding a popular favorite artist, I did was see my favorite lists of Spotify, I realized that what I hear the most is Lana, so that's why I choose her as my favorite singer hahahaha

I had the opportunity to meet her when she came to Lollapalooza, I found her a terrible singer and very out of tune in live, but her songs were absolutely beautiful and full of feeling and emotions.  So I decided to look for more songs and know more about her.

I was really surprised by the many albums, songs and how famous she is. Also, each of her songs expresses so much, for that reason I started to become a follower of her.

I realized that are so many important qualities that composers or musicians should have such as tuning, good lyrics, nice music and more complex and rupturist compositions , but not because they do not have some of these characteristics means they are bad  musicians  Lana is a great example of this, maybe she is not the great popular singer of the 21st century, but her music, lyrics and emotion are tremendous, that make her my favorite popular artist.

My first big travel

I really like this image, it was the first time I traveled outside Chile on vacations.  It was when I was 15 years old and we traveled together with my family to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

 The picture was taken by a professional photographer who took pictures on the beach and then sold them. Some days he had snakes, parrots or another little and funny monkeys.

 I appear on the beach of the hotel and in my hand I have a “capuccino monkey” and the back we can see the beach.

It Is a picture important to me, because I knew a wonderful place rounded by amazing and kind people, the beach were paradisiacal and we ate, travelled and rested so much. The vacations are to rest really?

Last year we had the fortune to return to that same place, but in that opportunity we went with all my family, my parents, aunts, uncles and my brother, who is my best friend. It was so fun. It is impressive how my appreciation of things can change in a few years, so this time I had more fun!!

Teffy :)

The dogs have always been present in my family, especially a kind of dog, the Boxer. Since I have memories I have been surrounded by Boxers, my childhood was marked by the presence of these noble and loyal dogs. I have had two Boxers, Diana y Teffy. 

Teffy was my last dog and died last year, she had a very aggressive cancer and it was impossible to save her. I’m going to talk about her. She was a very loyal dog, so nice, kind and lovely. She was 
always joyful and excited when someone came home, I remember that she acted as she had been having a party.

We still remember her a lot, and when we don’t hear barking or movements of her at home, we feel great emptiness, as if the house had lost life.

But I've always thought that our animal companions are destined to come into our lives bringing us joy for a short moment, but
definitely unforgettable. They arrive at the precise moment only to give us love and happiness.

A little dream...

When I was a child, I wanted to be a lawyer. My parents were so excited with my wish. When I took my first PSU, I got the neccesary points to study that, but always in my soul there was a little dream.

When I was a little boy I loved arts, music, school's choir, theatre, dance and opera. I have always been related with art, because my grandma on my mom's played the piano and my grandma on my father's was a ballet dancer. I remember my childhood rounded by Tchaichovsky, Mozart and Puccini's music. 

For that reason, when I grew up I changed my voice, and begun to practice the sing at my school's choir. I fell in love of this art, and I began to explored my own voice. Finally I decided study Opera singing at Universidad de Chile, against my parents' decision.

Facultad de Artes of the Universidad of Chile is a difficult place. The teachers aren't pedagogical people, the competition is so big and my own ghosts are a difficulty to my progress as an artist. But I did not lose the joy to sing.

Currently I dream my dream in a stronger manner, and I wish to be a great musician and singer. I want to become a bridge between the art and the society and teach to other persons the love for the music and the canto.

My favorite piece of technology is the iPad. I bought my iPad in August 2016. I use this object for everything, to read scores, watch movies, study with piano my pieces to sing, play, write in class and read books or magazines.  I usually use the iPad every days, always.

I like so much the iPad because is light, comfortable, its battery is so durable, and help not to misuse paper.  According to FAO 115 thousand millions of sheets of paper, are used annually in office work. The amount of paper for person is 48 kg, in the world. In USA is 334 kg, for person. For this reason I consider that the electronic’s tablets are an important object for musicians, teachers, and avid readers.

My iPad is essential to me. When I went to the University of Chile, I spended so much in books, scores, paper, etc and I carried on my backpack full and so heavy. I’m a person so interested in the recycling, and I try to live my life according to a environmental care.
